Audiobooks Homepage
Audio books are a great learning tool. Also audio books are
great for riding the tube or just to kick back and listen to a
great story. Audio books have been around since the time of the
gramaphone, and I guess audio books will be around a lot longer
yet. Also audiobooks are great for the visually impared as well as
the blind community.
All of our Audio books are available for download
after purchase. Every Audio Book has a sample for you to listen to
prior to purchase or just to listen to while you browse
our selection of Audio Books.
All Audio books are downloadable and can be used on
your Computer, MP3 Player or burnt to disk and used in your
favourite walkman or even play them on your stereo as well as in
the car. If you have an iPod you will first need to burn the file
to CD and then transfer it into iTunes. All Audio Books are in
Digital Format, ready to be Downloaded.
Audio books have been around since the time of the
phonograph. Yet most people will associate them with cassette
tapes as well as CD's. With the advancement of technology it is now
possible to download and listen to your favourite Audio Book much
the same way as you would your favourite music track.
Unabridged audio books are word for word readings
of a book, while abridged audio books have text edited out by the
abridger. Audio books also come as fully dramatized versions of the
printed book, sometimes calling upon a complete cast, music, and
sound effects. Audio books have been used to teach children to
read, and increase reading comprehension. They are also
indispensable for the blind.
Audio books are also used for education. Self-help
audio books range from public speaking to learning meditation.
Their general goal however is always to develop one's skills to be
more happy and/or successful in life. While some focus on a
particular skill, others aim to shift the listener's life direction
entirely.
Audio books are considered a valuable learning tool because of
their format. Unlike with traditional books, one can learn from an
audio book while doing other tasks, although it should be noted
that this can veer attention from the primary task. Such
multitasking is feasible when doing mechanical tasks that do not
require much thought and have only a very minor or no chance of an
emergency arising. Such tasks include doing the laundry and
exercising indoors, among others.
Strategies that maximize the benefits derived from
listening to an audio book include:
-
Replaying:
Depending upon ones degree of attention and interest, it is
often necessary to listen to segments of an audio book more than
once to allow the material to be understood and retained
satisfactorily. Replaying may be done immediately, and also after
extended periods of time.
-
Learning: A person
may listen to an audio book usually an unabridged one while
following along in the actual book. This helps the person to learn
words they may not learn correctly if they were to just read the
book.
So have a look around, and see if there is an Audio Book that
suits you. One last point and I will leave you alone. The first
time you purchase an Audio Book from us an account will be set up
for you (your own personal download area, it is a free service), so
that you can log in again at any time to re-download your Audio
Book if need be. This is a handy feature if you are travelling and
have left your favourite audio book behind or deleted it by
mistake. As long as you know your password you can log back into
your account and download your audio book from anywhere in the
world.
